6 Resources To Find Fonts For Your Next Webflow Project

January 3, 2023

Typefaces convey so much about a brand's personality. An unusual serif font can give a brand a upmarket but quirky vibe while a geometric sans serif font might be used for a brand that wants to give off a more serious tone. I have found a distinctly average website can completely change after a winning font combination. You know this already though. But where do you find all these sexy font combinations?

ps. A typeface is defined by a particular set of characteristics. A font is one size and weight within that style. A typeface encompasses all the fonts in a type family. This is important because when buying fonts, you don't need to buy all the different versions. Just the ones you want to use in your project!

Here are 5 resources to help you find fonts for your next Webflow project.

Muzli

Everytime I go open a new tab, I see beautiful website examples thanks to Muzli. I am constantly seeing inspirational websites with beautiful typefaces, layouts that make you drool and saucy startups. If you haven't downloaded muzli for chrome (or whatever browser you use), go get it people!

Typewolf

When I'm looking for the perfect font, I always head to typewolf run by Jeremiah Shoaf. Although you can get lost down down the rabbit hole of typeface pornography on this site, it is excellent to see unexpected font combinations but also daring colour combinations and layouts that will push your design further than before. I recommend spending some time digging through here and screenshotting designs you like to put them all in figma. That way, you will be able to see all these different combinations on one screen and can try out various options. Also, I recommend signing up for Jeremiah's emails - he sends banging examples of websites with epic font combos.

Font Foundaries

Possibly my favourite font at the moment

My favourite type foundaries are Pangram Pangram and Grilli Type. Another cool one is Blazetype (although I haven't bought fonts from this one yet). Both offer free trials of fonts to try before you buy and the sexiest font combinations are found on these sites. You can instantly raise the level of your websites by using fonts that are not free and these fonts are worth paying for imo! Also, how beautiful are their websites!

Fonts In Use Website

Fonts in use has some beatiful examples of fonts being used in the wild. The website has a crazy bank of fonts used in posters, products, vinyl covers, book covers, industrial design etc etc. It's the wildest website which you can easily lose yourself in so be careful! What I find really fascinating about this site is the stories behind the product/sign/book that the font was used on. Knowing this type of information - the story behind the font and examples of things it has been used on and with can help win over a client if they are on the fence with font choices. Check out this example here from Exploring Vegan website.

Whatfont Chrome Extension

This chrome extension called WhatFont is honestly a life saver. Whenever you see a cool font out there in the wild, you can simply scan over it with WhatFont and find out what it is. You can then look it up and buy it or find something similar for your own project. This tool is great when you are randomly browsing and find a banging font.

Fresh Fonts

In researching for this article, I found this resource. Seems like a really useful resource to have sexy type emails in your inbox so go get it people!
